  • Tanja-Tankero-Very-Dangerous-Indeed was our Great Dame. We imported her at the time when 4 months´ guarantine was oblidged to all dogs coming to Finland and as we so clearly remembered how dull a time that was to our Ankka who came 1,5 years earlier we thought it would be better for the puppy to have company ...and Tanja came to Finland together with her litterbrother Dynamite Ywina van de Axmagal. Well, that was a mistake we know now.

When Tanja got out of the guarantine she was a canine and not any kind of familydog youngster. She was only 7,5 months old but showed total alienation from people. She simply didn't care. She got very well along with our three other dogs, she was a perfect little babysitter to Ankka's litter if Ankka wanted to rest for awile - but she was fully uninterested in us! It didn't matter so much what we did - we could pet her or punish her and she would only shake up a little and go away... She was also a very busy puppy who didn't respect any fences we had around our yard and even if we put electricity to the fence, well - Auch! and she went bunnyhunting... She also was very effectively destructive naughty beast when left alone with only the dogs as her company. Her speciality was eating alarmclocks. And we meen eating.

After one year's of hard work and all kind of methods we were in the very same situation as on the very first day Tanja came home from the guarantine. We were frustrated and sad. We had already talked about giving up. Then one evening our good friends visited us. They lived in the neighbourhood with their kerry blues and visited us or we visited them almost every single day. We were having coffee and Tanja came and stood for a while on the door. As she was sure that she had got the attention of all of us, she rushed across the floor and jumped in Hannele's arms. Smiling and laughing she gazed on us saying: "OK, Folks. Basicly I just looove to be with all of You ...maybe it's time to let You know that, too". We just stood there and stared - and then bursted to laugh... "What the h... is now going on?" What started then during that one late spring evening continued for almost 13 years.

She was a huge personality, the best mother we have ever seen or heared of and she gave birth to our probably best puppies (f. ex. all Obedience Champions and Working Champions in this breed and bred in Finland are Tanja's children!). When she decided her time was full, she was very determined in that, too. Jorma was judging somewhere and in the morning she said to Piukku that this is a perfect late spring day to die. Would You please help me a little? And we drove to Mysse-The-Vet's home and Tanja took her last meatball and fell in sleep so peacefully and beautifully that now we know one thing more. Such a thing as a beautiful death exists.
