The Finnish SAR-system - Disaster Dog test hurdles
The Hurdles-part includes seven different movements:
1) Moving platform on barrels
A dog must jump on the platform and stay on it.This hurdle imitates the jump into a near ground hovering helicopter.
2) Swinging plattform
A participating dog must walk to the center of the plattform and wait there until the plattform has moved to the opposite position and then walk down the plattform on command.
3) Ladder
A participating dog must walk to the end of the ladder, and wait there for the instructor, who lifts him down.
4) Long jump
On command the dog must jump over the hurd and stay and wait there for the instructor.
5) Tunnel
On command the dog must creep thrue the tunnel, stay down on the other end and wait for the instructor.
6) Moving on an unpleasant ground
A 3 x 3 meters wide area is covered with different kids of unpleasant materials (glass, iron mountings, construction waste, foil, sheet-iron etc)
The dog must heel off leash the instructor through the area several times. The instructor makes at least one stop in the area and the dog must sit down.
7) Go out to marked targets
In a 20 meter's distance from the starting point there stands three (40 meters appart from eachother) clearly marked stands (a table, a barrel, a box etc.).
On command the dog must go out to the pointed direction and jump on the object and stay there until the instructor leads him towards the next (judge selects the performing order) point.
The instructor leads the dog to all three objects. After visiting all of them, the dog is called back to the instructor.
